What is Amazon Associates?
- Amazon Associates is Amazon’s official affiliate program — one of the largest in the world.
- You earn a commission (typically 1–10%) every time someone clicks your link and buys a product on Amazon.
- The program is free to join and there’s no minimum traffic requirement to apply.
- Commissions are paid monthly via direct deposit, check, or Amazon gift card.
Requirements
- You need an active website, blog, YouTube channel, or social media account with original content. Your links.fitness page works as a qualifying website.
- Your content should be publicly accessible — private or login-gated pages won’t qualify.
- You must have at least a few pieces of published content before applying (Amazon reviews your site).
- You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
- You’ll need to make at least 3 qualifying sales within your first 180 days or your account will be closed (you can reapply).
Step-by-Step Signup
- 1Go to affiliate-program.amazon.com and click “Sign up.”
- 2Log in with your existing Amazon account or create a new one.
- 3Enter your account information: name, address, and phone number.
- 4Add your website or mobile app URLs where you’ll promote products. You can use your links.fitness/username URL here.
- 5Create your Associates Store ID (usually based on your site name).
- 6Describe what your site is about, the types of products you plan to promote, and how you drive traffic.
- 7Choose your preferred payment method and complete the tax information interview.
- 8Submit your application — you’ll get an Associates ID immediately and can start generating links.
Tips for Approval
- Make sure your site has at least 10–15 pieces of original content before applying.
- Don’t apply with an empty or under-construction site — Amazon will reject it.
- Clearly describe how you drive traffic (social media, SEO, email, etc.) in the application.
- Avoid misleading content, copyrighted material, or anything that violates Amazon’s policies.
- Add a disclosure on your site stating that you earn commissions from affiliate links (FTC requirement). links.fitness includes this automatically on every page — you can also add custom disclosure text in your dashboard settings.
- Remember: you need 3 qualifying sales in 180 days. Focus on promoting products your audience actually wants.
Getting Your Affiliate Links
- Once approved, log in to the Associates Central dashboard.
- Use the SiteStripe toolbar (appears at the top of Amazon when logged in) to generate links for any product page.
- Or use the Product Linking tools in Associates Central to search for products and create text, image, or banner links.
- Each link contains your Associates tracking ID so Amazon knows the sale came from you.
- You can also use Amazon’s API to build custom product displays, but simple text links work great for most creators.
Using Your Links on links.fitness
- Copy your full Amazon affiliate link (it will contain your tracking tag, e.g. ?tag=yourid-20).
- In your links.fitness dashboard, click “Add Product” and paste the link in the URL field.
- Add a product title, description, image, and category to make it easy for visitors to find.
- Your affiliate link is never modified — it’s served directly to visitors exactly as you entered it.
- Use the analytics dashboard to track clicks and see which products your audience engages with most.
